What Most People Don't Know About Life Insurance

Traditional policies only pay after you're gone. But what happens when you need the money while you're still here?

The Old Way Is Broken

Traditional life insurance only pays a death benefit. Your family gets the money, but you never see a dollar of it — even if a serious illness drains your savings first.

Medical Bills Don't Wait

66% of bankruptcies are tied to medical costs. A chronic or critical illness can wipe out years of savings in months — and a standard policy won't help you during that fight.

Living Benefits Change Everything

Policies with living benefit riders let you access a portion of your death benefit while alive — for qualifying chronic, critical, or terminal conditions. Often at no extra cost.

Three Steps to Real Protection

No pressure. No confusing jargon. Just a straightforward path to coverage that actually works for you.

1

Quick Health Questions

A 2-minute conversation to understand your situation — your age, health, family needs, and budget. No medical exam required for many options.

2

We Shop 30+ Carriers

As an independent brokerage, we're not tied to one company. We compare quotes from top-rated carriers to find your best rate with living benefits included.

3

Get Protected

Lock in your policy with living benefits — often at the same price as traditional coverage. Your family is protected, and so are you.

Built-In Protection for What Life Throws at You

Living benefit riders give you options when you need them most — without extra premiums in many cases.

Chronic Illness Rider

Access up to 90% of your death benefit if you can't perform 2 or more Activities of Daily Living (bathing, dressing, eating, etc.) for 90+ days.

Critical Illness Rider

Receive a lump sum upon diagnosis of a qualifying critical illness — heart attack, stroke, cancer, major organ failure, and more.

Terminal Illness Rider

Access your full death benefit early with a terminal diagnosis (typically 12-24 month prognosis). Use it however you need — medical bills, family time, bucket list.

No Medical Exam Options

Many carriers offer simplified issue policies — no blood work, no doctor visits. Answer a few health questions and get approved, sometimes the same day.

Competitive Rates

We shop 30+ carriers for you. Because we're independent, we find the best rate — not just the rate one company wants to give you. Living benefits often included at no extra cost.

Cash Value Growth

Whole life and IUL policies build tax-advantaged cash value over time. Borrow against it, supplement retirement, or leave a larger legacy — your money working two jobs.

Real Families, Real Protection

"My husband was diagnosed with MS last year. Because we had the chronic illness rider, we were able to access $200K of his policy to modify our home and cover his care. I don't know what we would have done without it."

"I was paying almost the same amount for a basic term policy through my employer. Switched to one with living benefits and my rate actually went down. Should have done this years ago."

"The whole process took about 15 minutes on the phone and a week for approval. No exam. I have three kids and knowing they're covered — and that I can access funds if something happens to me — that's worth everything."

Common Questions About Living Benefits

Living benefits are riders (additions) to a life insurance policy that allow you to access a portion of your death benefit while you're still alive. They typically cover three qualifying conditions: chronic illness (inability to perform daily activities), critical illness (heart attack, stroke, cancer, etc.), and terminal illness (life expectancy of 12-24 months). The money is yours to use however you need — medical bills, mortgage, care expenses, or anything else.
Many carriers include living benefit riders at no additional cost on their policies. You're essentially getting more protection for the same premium. Some carriers charge a small additional premium for enhanced riders with higher payout percentages or broader qualifying conditions. We'll always show you the exact cost breakdown so there are no surprises.
It depends on the carrier and the type of rider. Chronic illness riders typically allow access to 50-90% of the death benefit. Critical illness riders often provide a lump sum of 25-100% depending on the diagnosis. Terminal illness riders usually allow access to the full death benefit. Keep in mind that any amount you access reduces the remaining death benefit for your beneficiaries.
Not necessarily. Many carriers offer no-exam (simplified issue) policies with living benefits for coverage amounts up to $500K-$1M. You'll answer health questions instead. For larger policies or the best possible rate, a quick medical exam (paramedic comes to you) can help you qualify for preferred pricing. We'll help you decide which route makes the most sense for your situation.
A captive agent (one who works for a single carrier) can only sell you their company's products — even if another carrier offers a better rate or better riders for your situation. As an independent brokerage, we represent 30+ A-rated carriers and have no incentive to push one over another. We find the policy that's actually best for you, not the one that pays us the highest commission.
